Our Restoration Ecology Group organised a workshop for nature conservation authorities, NGOs and researchers on the law on nature restoration.

Representatives from the Nature Conservation Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, all national parks, WWF, MME, CEEweb, MTVSZ, relevant universities and experts from the HUN-REN Centre for Ecological Research participated. We discussed the tasks related to Act 4 in particular, the opportunities and main obstacles for the implementation of the NRL in Hungary, with a special focus on freshwater, forest and open ecosystems. Political will, sectoral preferences that are often incompatible with nature conservation, financial uncertainties and lack of strong local and social support are challenges, professional knowledge, willingness to cooperate, existing good examples of cross-sectoral cooperation, existing databases are the hope for good results in Hungary.
